This species is highly variable, especially the amount of yellow differs from specimen to specimen often looking very dark as in the picture. New species to Britian in the mid 1980's and now found over most of Southern England.

Water Vole, River Lea, New Bedford Road, Luton
Water Vole
Water Voles are present on the River Lea, the Houghton Brook, and Cowslip Meadow in Luton. Some of the best sites to visit for seeing the water vole are, Leagrave Common, Fallowfield, and the stretch of the Lea between Kingsdown Ave and Stockingstone Road by the A6.
